Maxime Perniola

About

Maxime Perniola.

I live near Grenoble, France, and I have been building software for eighteen years.

I started as a Java developer, then iOS. I went on to lead projects and teams: a contactless payment platform for Swiss and French banking groups, mobile games at Gameloft, a video game studio, a technical team of about twenty people. The Télé Grenoble iPhone app was me, a long time ago.

In recent years my job was mostly to scope and estimate projects for large companies. I was good at it, but I was no longer building anything with my own hands.

In February 2026 I got back to it, with AI tools. Since then I have shipped a real-time buzzer, two games, a data aggregator, the rebuild of a sports club website, and two tools for a 2003 strategy game I still play. This notebook records what I learn along the way, including when it does not work.

What these tools gave me back is the speed of the hand. Not the judgement.

A project from end to end

What sets me apart is not a speciality, it is the whole chain. I have held each of these roles, and today I hold all four on the same project.

  1. 01

    Scope and estimate

Understand the real need behind the request, break it down, estimate uncertainty rather than volume, commit. Eight years of presales and technical leadership.

  2. 02

    Design

Choose an architecture one person can sustain, and an interface a user understands without a manual.

  3. 03

    Build

Write the code, with AI tools for typing and end-to-end tests for confidence. Seven years of iOS and Java development before leading.

  4. 04

    Ship and maintain

Deploy, measure, fix what breaks on real devices, and leave a system someone else can take over.
